Sheila’s passion for food can be traced to the dog-eared Betty Crocker New Boys and Girls Cookbook she pored over as a child, anxiously whipping up new, great-sounding recipes for her family. She was also an avid Easy Baker, until the fateful day she decided to bake her small plastic purse in the oven. It burned, and so did the oven. But her career in food had just ignited.

Fast forward 35 years and Sheila can still be found poring over cookbooks (and magazines, newspapers and web sites) to whip up delicious recipes for her family, which now includes a husband and two daughters.

Sheila’s love of all things food propelled her on a 20+ year career in journalism and food marketing. She worked at leading large and boutique public relations agencies, helping food clients land on the pages of Newsweek, The New York Times, Good Housekeeping, Better Homes & Gardens and Ladies’ Home Journal to name a few, as well as on hundreds of newspaper food sections. She shared her excitement about food to book clients’ on national and local TV and radio programs, helping them communicate the unique messages about their products. She has managed consumer promotions, issues management, community relations and Hispanic media relations programs for dozens of food brands and commodity boards.

She also understands retail operations, having worked in the public relations department of Nob Hill Foods supermarket chain. Sheila also helped create, write and develop recipe and story ideas for Raley’s award-winning magazine, Something Extra.

As e-commerce swept the nation, Sheila became a quick study on web marketing, writing content and product descriptions for various websites.

Sheila’s articles have appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines, and she has won national awards for her PR programs and writing. She holds a B.A. in Communications with a minor in home economics and nutrition from California State University, Chico. And she can proudly say that her daughters have become proficient with their own Easy-Bake Oven.
